Scorpions now be released next week, on November 4th.
The band said: “Here it is: the cover art for 'Peacemaker'! This photo perfectly captures how we feel as a band. I'm so excited to hear the new single. Pre-save it now to hear an exclusive snippet of the song!”
"Peacemaker" is the first single from Scorpions' 19th studio album, Rock Believer , which is scheduled for release on February 11, 2022.
During the pandemic, the band went to the studio in their hometown of Hanover, Germany, to begin working on new songs.
“The album was produced with Scorpions DNA, with compositions by [ Rudolf ] Schenker / [ Klaus ] Meine ,” singer Klaus Meine told Blabbermouth . “We recorded the album as a live band in a room, like we did in the 80s.”
Rock Believer was recorded at Peppermint Park Studios in Hanover and mixed at Hansa Studios in Berlin, with engineer Michael Ilbert . He has received several Grammy nominations for his mixing work with producer Max Martin on albums by Taylor Swift and Katy Perry .
The new Scorpions album will mark their first release since 2017's Born To Touch Your Feelings – Best Of Rock Ballads , which was an anthology of new and classic material.
Initially, the album was to be produced by Greg Fidelman , known for his experience with bands like Slipknot and Metallica , but the impossibility of meeting with the professional made the project completely unfeasible. “It’s very difficult to communicate [online]. But maybe on the next album, who knows? We decided to move forward and do the best we can,” explained Mikkey Dee about the decision to proceed without Fidelman. The band then opted to handle the recordings with the help of their engineer, Hans-Martin Buff .
Meine previously told Talking Metal that the goal of using Fidelman to produce Rock Believer was to bring back “the old vibe of albums like Blackout , Love At First Sting , or even Lovedrive . We tried to focus on those albums and that attitude,” he stated. “If we get there, who knows. But it’s the spirit and the whole vibe around this album. This time, the focus is on the heavier songs.”
According to Meine, the new Scorpions LP “doesn’t feature any outside writers,” unlike Return To Forever , which was largely co-written by the album’s producers, Mikael Nord Andersson and Martin Hansen .
